Over the past decade, sales and income taxes expanded at nearly twice the rate as school district property tax.

This research brief uses IRS tax data to track migration between Pennsylvania counties from 2022 to 2023. The IRS data show relatively strong net migration and adjusted gross income flows to suburban counties. In absolute terms, large net inflows of residents occured in York (+2,383), Cumberland (+2,336), Schuylkill (+1,126) and Northampton (+1,068).
